Age Successfully — Your Lifestyle Is Key!

 

Reinforcing a mission to inspire and nurture successful aging, more than 75 residents, family members, friends and guests gathered on Tuesday, August 11, to celebrate the launch of Masterpiece LivingŪ.

Masterpiece Living is a revolutionary approach to successful aging, designed to create a culture that embraces what research indicates is possible — older adults can continue to grow throughout their lives.

Featured guest and speaker for the day was Dr. Roger Landry, the founder of Masterpiece Living, preventive medicine specialist and retired Air Force colonel. A highlight of the day occurred as residents wrote down their new lifestyle goals and tied them to balloons that were then released during a community-wide balloon launch.

This memorable event was followed by special presentations by Dr. Landry to more than 100 invited guests on Wednesday, August 12, at the community. "Studies show that 70% of how well you age is determined by lifestyle choices," said Dr. Landry. "Being physically active, eating well, managing stress, getting preventive health screenings and staying connected — exactly the opportunities you have for aging successfully here at Somerby. Believe me when I say, 'Where you live has everything to do with how you live.'"

Executive Director Debbie Michelet reinforced Dr. Landry's comments. "Vitality and independence are what our residents want and expect in their lifestyle. Knowing that lifestyle is the most important factor in determining how well a person ages and how healthy they are as they get older, Somerby stands ready to deliver all this — and more."
